Leonid Ler

Hi, I'm Leon - a storyteller, a tech generalist, and a lifelong adventurer.
In my day job, I work across data, tech, and business: building teams, translating complexity, and helping things make sense.
I also co-write Managing, Somehow., a newsletter for new managers figuring things out as they go.On Monkey On The Move, I write my adventures from life, work, and travel - the kind you’d tell a friend over a beer.
Some became a book. Others turned into ideas you'll find in the shop.

About me

Hello, I’m Leon.
Writer, builder, explorer.
I tell stories, follow curiosity, and bring ideas to life.

My day job

I’ve spent the last decade moving between data, tech, and business, leading teams, often as the connector between people who speak different professional languages. I help make complexity understandable, data insightful, and ideas executable.

My other projects

Outside of work, I’m a doer. I think of projects and make them happen.
- I migrated countries to experience a different work culture.
- I traveled, a lot.
- I ran a travel blog for five years.
- I renovated an apartment.
- I became a father.
- I read 52 books in one year.
- I walked the Camino de Santiago with my partner and our 7 month old son
- I wrote and self-published a book about it: Baby Walks to Santiago: A family adventure with a little pilgrim.
Then I created Monkey On The Move - my space to share the stories I’ve lived, and the ones I’m still figuring out.I also co-write Managing, Somehow. - a place where beginner managers can learn from the mistakes of seasoned ones.

What's next?

There’s a backlog of ideas waiting to be done - a shop, some digital products, a few book drafts, maybe even a weird side business or two. I’m exploring, not optimizing. For now, writing is the thread tying it all together.Want to keep up? Subscribe to Monkey On The Move.

What I'm working on

This is where I track what’s keeping me busy. What’s live, and what’s brewing in the background.

Ongoing

Monkey On The Move
My main writing space — personal stories about life, work, travel, parenting, and figuring things out as I go. Most things I write end up here. Some light, some heavy, all honest.
Managing, Somehow.
A shared newsletter I co-write with a friend, for beginner managers navigating leadership without a manual. We write from experience, not expertise, and try to keep it real.

In the Works

Books
I’m quietly writing a few books in the background. Some are collections of stories, others are more structured. Nothing is published yet, but I’m building a shelf.
A shop
Eventually I’d like to open a small shop. Books, prints, maybe a few digital products that came out of projects or stories. Still early days, but the idea is simmering.
Helping people ship
Thinking about offering a no-nonsense “execution partner” service. For people with ideas that have been sitting too long. I’ll probably test it soon. Let me know if you are interested.
A newsletter
Considering a monthly-ish newsletter. More personal, with life updates, recent stories, quotes or ideas that stuck, and what’s in progress. If it happens, it’ll come through Monkey On The Move.
